<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of easily carrying out jam processing of recording paper, even in a carrying passage for the recording paper horizontally traveling in an image forming device. <P>SOLUTION: A first carrying portion 41 is fixed to a frame 43, and a second carrying portion 42 is slidably supported by the frame 43. The frame 43 is slidably supported in the image forming device. By sliding of the frame 43 and the second carrying portion 42, any one of a first state that the first and second carrying portions 41, 42 are stored in the image forming device, a second state that the first carrying portion 41 alone is drawn out of the image forming device, and a third state that the first and second carrying portions 41, 42 are drawn out of the image forming device can be selectively set.
