PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of enhancing the performance in the initial service stage. SOLUTION: A plurality of shallow grooves 26 are formed in the tread of a block 20 along the circumferential direction. Both a circumferential direction center area 40 and a circumferential direction end area 44 are set in the block 20, and the depth of the shallow grooves 26 is larger in the circumferential direction center area 40 and the circumferential direction end area 44. Since more water can be taken into the shallow grooves 26 in the circumferential direction center area 40 than in the circumferential direction end area 44, the ground contact property is improved, and the performance can be enhanced in the initial service stage.
