Strip material for protecting crops against the weather comprises nonwoven or film strips (2, 3) that overlap and are bonded together in the overlap region (4) by a linear pattern (5) of discrete structures (6). An independent claim is also included for producing a strip material as above by assembling thermoplastic nonwoven or film strips so that they overlap along one long side, and bonding the strips together by ultrasonic welding in the overlap region to form a linear pattern of discrete structures.
