PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable terahertz endoscope which reduces the transmission loss of a terahertz wave and avoids the unnecessary attenuation due to the water vapor absorption of the terahertz wave and its application device. SOLUTION: There are provided; a terahertz wave exciting means which makes near IR laser beams of different frequencies incident on a nonlinear optical crystal installed within the endoscope by using respective waveguides; a terahertz wave irradiation means which irradiates the terahertz wave generated by the laser beam incidence in contact with or proximity to a specimen etc.; and a terahertz wave detecting means which detects the terahertz wave in contact with or proximity to the specimen etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
