A refrigerator (figure 1, 10) comprises a door (11, 12) which includes an outside front plate 30 and an inside plate 31 with an insulating material 32 provided between the two. An electrode 52 of a capacitance sensor is provided between the front plate and the insulation material. A metal film 40 is provided between the front plate and the electrode whereby a parasitic capacitance of the metal film is smaller than a parasitic capacitance of a substrate 54 including the electrode or a parasitic capacitance of the front plate. The metal film may be a discontinuous deposited film 43, laminated on sheet-like base 41 material, have translucency and be formed of tin or a tin alloy. The metal film may also be formed into a concave or convex shape, laminated on the inside of a base material, have a protective layer inside of it and comprise a coloured layer 46 or a plurality of dot-like (figure 3) or belt-like portions (figure 4). The protective layer preferably is formed of polyvinyl chloride and the insulating material contains urethane foam. |
