PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a structure capable of attaining a high-quality roller bearing unit with a mounting plate at a low cost and a process of manufacture thereof.SOLUTION: As a mounting plate 7a, a plate having large-diameter parts 21 at a plurality of locations of a circumferential edge part of a holding hole 13a is applied. A circumferential part of each of the large diameter parts 21 of side surfaces in an axial direction of the mounting plate 7a is depressed by a punch 23 toward a stepped surface 19 present at a base end part of a small diameter stepped part 9a of an outer ring 5a under a state in which the small diameter part 9a is internally fitted into the holding hole 13a. Then, the circumferential edge part of each of the large diameter parts 21 is plastically deformed inward in a radial direction to form each of engaging protrusions 11a and at the same time each of these engaging protrusions 11a and an engaging concave groove 12a formed at an outer circumferential surface of the small diameter stepped part 9a are engaged to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
