The present invention relates to a joint that uses a shape memory alloy for joining water pipes used in submarine installations. The sleeve-like joint (1) made of a shape memory alloy is initially produced with an internal diameter (D1) smaller than the external diameter (D4) of the pipes (4), with an inner coating layer (2) made of a dielectric material, and an innermost layer (3) of anti-corrosive material adjacent to the outer surface of the pipes (4), the layer (3) of anti-corrosive material having protruding portions (5) on its inside to grip the outer surface of the pipes (4), forming striae (6) thereon.
