PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration wave motor having a retaining structure which never blocks vibrations of the whole vibrator since an abutting range between a vibrator and a retaining member is uncertain before and vibrations of the vibrator may be blocked.SOLUTION: A vibration wave motor has a vibrator 10 which generates elliptic motion, retaining means 11 of retaining the vibrator 10, and a driven body 120 driven by the vibrator 10. The retaining means 11 comprises a first abutting part 11b and a second abutting part 11c abutting on the vibrator 10, and the vibrator 10 has a first displacement part 1b at a place for abutting on the first abutting part 11b and a second displacement part 1c at a place for abutting on the second abutting part 11c, displacement of the first displacement part 1b being smaller than displacement of the second displacement part 1c, and an area of the first abutting part 11b of the retaining means 11 being larger than an area of the second abutting part 11c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
