<p>PURPOSE:To attain the common use of a control circuit for lighting high luminance discharge lamps so as to provide a low-priced discharge lamp lighting device. CONSTITUTION:High luminance discharge lamps 11, 12 are connected parallel to power supply lines. Trigger circuits 21, 22 are connected individually to the high luminance discharge lamps 11, 12, and lighting command signals 401, 402 are provided selectively at the switching time so as to be supplied to the high luminance discharge lamps 11, 12 with trigger pulse voltage Vt selected. At the switching time, a control circuit 4 temporarily stops the supply of lighting maintaining voltage Vd. to the power supply lines, and then supplies the lighting maintaining voltage Vd to the power supply lines 48, 49 so as to supply the selected high luminance discharge lamps 11, 12 with the lighting maintaining voltage Vd as well as the trigger pulse voltage Vt.</p> |
