PURPOSE:To obtain an exhaust gas purification catalyst having high NOx removal ability in a wide temp. range, reducing the amt. of NOx contained in exhaust gas from an automobile and suppressing the occurrence of environmental pollution by carrying nickel and copper on a carrier such as zeolite. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. of copper and nickel salts is impregnated into zeolite or mordenite and copper and nickel are carried on the zeolite or mordenite by drying and firing in the air to obtain the objective exhaust gas purification catalyst made of copper-nickel-zeolite or mordenite. Yttrium, lanthanum or samarium may be used in place of the nickel. This catalyst ensures high NOx removal ability in a low temp. range as well as in a high temp. range and NOx contained in exhaust gas can be removed in a wide temp. range. |
