<p>PURPOSE:To make applied pressure variable according to the size of placed sheets so as to suppress the large fluctuation of paper feeding pressure caused by the difference of sheet size by forming a sheet stacker plate of plural independently rotatable parts, and providing a pressure means in correspondence with each part. CONSTITUTION:A feed roller 3 brought into pressure contact with a sheaf of sheets 100 in a feed tray 1 from above is rotated with specified timing so as to feed the sheets one by one from the upper most sheet. In a paper feeder of such constitution, a stacking plate in the feed tray 1 is formed of three parts 11-13 divided parallelly in the sheet feed direction. These parts 11-13 are so set that the center part 11 has the width to support the short side of an approximately A4-size sheet and that the whole sheet stacking plate 10 with the lateral parts 12, 13 put together has the width to support the short side of an A3-size sheet. The respective parts 11-13 are supported in the independently rotatable state respectively around supporting shafts 15. The center part 11 is energized upward by two first elastic members 21, and each of the end parts 12, 13 is energized upward by one second elastic member 22.</p> |
