An anode active material for a lithium secondary battery is provided to realize high capacity and excellent cycle life characteristics, as compared as a battery using a completely crystalline oxide as an anode active material. An anode active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises a wall frame formed of a composite metal oxide containing a Group 14 element and a Group 15 element in the Periodic Table, and mesopores formed therein, wherein the composite metal oxide comprises, after charge, a wall frame having a matrix formed of a compound of lithium with a Group 15 element and a Group 14 element dispersed in the matrix, and mesopores surrounded with the wall frame. The mesopores have a size of 0.5-10 nm. |
