The method involves receiving a sequence of images with interlaced half-images (Al, B1, A2) with a predetermined half-image rate at an input, and providing a sequence of images with interlaced half-images ( alpha , beta , gamma , delta ) with the doubled half-image rate at an output. At least one of the half-images at the output is formed through a filtering operation, which is implemented by a neural network. The input image sequence preferably comprises first and second half-images at a first and second raster position, respectively, and the output image sequence comprises four half-images, in which the first and third half-images comprise the first raster position, and the second and fourth, half-images comprise the second raster position.
