COMPOUND HAVING OXETANYL GROUP AND CURABLE COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME AS COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound affording a low-viscosity curable composition of rapid curability even in the form a thick film through short-time irradiation capable of giving a cured product of high adhesion and useful for e.g. protective coating use. SOLUTION: This new compound is an oxetanyl group-contg. compound of formula I (R1 is an alkyl), e.g. 3-ethyl-3-(4-t-butylphenoxy)methyloxetane. The compound of formula I is obtained by synthesis through phase-transfer reaction between a 3-(chloromethyl)oxetane of formula II and p-t-butylphenol of formula III in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide (e.g. potassium hydroxide) in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst at about 120 deg.C for 10 h.
