An apparatus and a method for changing an MBS(Multicast and Broadcast Service) broadcast channel in a BWA(Broadband Wireless Access) system are provided to set a multi-MBS connection as many as the number of channels in requesting an initial service between a base station and a mobile terminal. A terminal(200) transmits an MBS service request message to an MBS contents server(203). The terminal receives an MBS service response message including a mapping table from the MBS contents server(211). The terminal performs a DSA(Dynamic Service Add) procedure on each channel with a base station(210) to establish an MBS connection with respect to one or more channels broadcast by the MBS contents server(223). The mapping table is about that of a multicast IP address verse an MCID(Multicast Connection ID).
