PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impermeable wall structure which is capable of surely detecting the leakage by a simple means and to provide a method for detecting the leakage of an impermeable wall structure. SOLUTION: The impermeable wall structure 1 in which a plurality of steal sheet piles 3 are connected with a joint 5 is characterized by using at least one of connection parts among the connection parts as a leakage detection target connection part 7 to conduct the leakage detection by a tracer and being equipped with an enclosure 9 for diffusion prevention to prevent the diffusion of the tracer injected in the proximity of the tracer injection side at the leakage detection target connection part 7. The leakage detection method of the impermeable wall structure 1 comprises a tracer injection step of injecting the tracer to the proximity of the leakage detection target connection part 7, a step of sampling water at the opposite side against the tracer injection side after a lapse of predetermined time after the tracer injection and a step of checking the existence of the leakage by analyzing the sampled water.
