A control device for clamping force of a chuck and a method thereof are provided to treat a variation of centrifugal force and to furnish a stable cutting condition by keeping constant clamping force with controlling a load between the chuck and a workpiece in real time using a load cell. A control device for clamping force of a chuck of a machine tool comprises the followings: a load cell(20) installed between the chuck(10) and a workpiece(25), to output a signal according to the clamping force; an amplifying unit(41) amplifying the signal of the load cell, and an A/D converter(43) converting the signal amplified by the amplifying unit to a digital signal; a control unit(42) comparing the outputted signal of the A/D converter to a standard value; an input unit(52) for inputting the standard value to the control unit; a pressure control unit(30) controlling pressure applied to the chuck based on the compared result of the control unit.
