PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator provided with a supercooling compartment capable of stably preserving food in a supercooled state. SOLUTION: The refrigerator is provided with the supercooling compartment 4 preserving food A in a supercooled state, a supercooling container 12 for food storage arranged in the supercooling compartment, a temperature sensor 4a detecting a temperature in the supercooling compartment, a compressor 21 supplying cold air into the supercooling compartment, cold air supplying means comprising an evaporator 18, damper devices 19, 25, or the like, and a controller 40 controlling driving of the cold air supply means and a heater to provide a supercooled state of the food housed in the supercooling container. In the controller 40, when the temperature in the supercooling compartment exceeds a predetermined temperature set at 0°C or higher, one or more intermediate set temperatures are set between the predetermined temperature and a set temperature of the supercooling compartment, and supercooling control of the temperature in the supercooling compartment is carried out in multiple stages from the predetermined temperature to the set temperature.
