<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic refrigeration material which shows a high magnetic refrigeration effect and also shows a high mechanical strength. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic refrigeration material includes: at least one element selected from the group consisting of Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, in an amount of 4 atom% to 15 atom%; at least one element selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, Ni, Mn and Cr, in an amount of 60 atom% to 93 atom%; at least one element selected from the group consisting of Si, C, Ge, Al, Ga and In, in an amount of 2.9 atom% to 23.5 atom%; and at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ta, Nb and W, in an amount of 1.5 atom% or less.
