<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet transmitting method and apparatus capable of suppressing power consumption and the quantity of heat generation of a device by reducing circuit scale by excluding packet processing delay and simplifying a circuit configuration. <P>SOLUTION: When writing a received packet in a packet buffer (12), an address thereof is stored as a read address for each of destinations corresponding to physical ports (P#0-P#n) and received packet information of the received packet is stored. When reading the received packet from the packet buffer (12) in accordance with scheduling control, the read address of a destination designated by the received packet information is read and held.
