PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out input processing based on a plurality of different input modes according to a pressing condition and a sliding condition of an operation body such as a finger.

SOLUTION: In this optical input device, when a display screen is operated to be shaded by the operation body, input processing based on a plurality of input modes is carried out. The optical input device includes a display part 10 for displaying a predetermined input information, the display screen 11 for detecting an area and/or luminance of a shaded area by the operation body approaching to the display part 10, and a control means 15 for controlling the display part 10 and the input processing based on the detection results of the display screen 11. The control means 15 compares the detection results of the area and/or luminance of the shaded area with a predetermined threshold to select a predetermined input mode from a plurality of input modes.
