This invention relates generally to a plant cell with increased yield, preferably under condition of transient and repetitive abiotic stress as compared to a corresponding non-transformed wild type plant cell by increasing or generating one or more activities of RING proteins in plants.

A transgenic monocotyledous plant comprising in its genome a stably-integrated, recombinant DNA construct comprising a polynucleotide operably linked to at least one regulatory element, wherein said polynucleotide has a nucleic acid sequence encoding SEQ ID NO: 2, and wherein said monocotyledous plant exhibits increased drought tolerance when compared to a control plant not comprising said recombinant DNA construct.
