PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device that allows problems such as increases in manufacturing cost, size, and power consumption to be avoided.SOLUTION: The projection type display device comprises: a light source (10); a light valve device (30); an illumination optical system (20) for introducing different colors of light from the light source (10) into different regions (30R, 30G, 30B) of the light valve device (30); and a projection optical system (40) for collecting different color images from the different regions (30R, 30G, 30B) of the light valve device (30) into a single image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
