PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin identification device which reduces a calculation time required for detection of the center position of a coin.SOLUTION: A coin identification device 1 includes: an imaging part 3 for picking up an image of a whole coin 10 while a conveyance part 2 is conveying the coin in the Y direction; a center X-coordinate acquisition part 421 constituted so as to acquire the center X-coordinate of the coin in the X direction orthogonal to the Y direction in the image on the basis of the image; a diameter information acquisition part 422 constituted so as to acquire the dimension of the diameter of the coin; an edge point information acquisition part 423 constituted so as to acquire the X-coordinate and Y-coordinate of an edge point of the coin in the image; and a calculation part 425 constituted so as to calculate the center Y-coordinate in the Y direction of the coin from the center X-coordinate of the coin in the X direction, the dimension of the diameter of the coin and the X-coordinate and Y-coordinate of the edge point. The calculation part calculates the center Y-coordinate in the Y direction of the coin by using an approximate equation approximating a geometric relational expression which is satisfied between the center of the circle and a point on the circumference by a polynomial expression.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
