The invention relates to a process and an installation for cleaning contaminated environmental fallows, in particular for reducing the radiation burden of radioactively contaminated environmental fallows, comprising a biogas installation (5), in which fermentation of contaminated biomass, in particular radioactively contaminated vegetable biomass, in at least one fermenter of the biogas installation (5) produces a contaminated, liquid and/or moist fermentation residue (8) along with biogas (7). The contaminated, liquid and/or moist fermentation residue (8) is fed to at least one drying device (9), in which it is dried to form a contaminated dried fermentation residue (10) with a predefined residual moisture content. This contaminated dried fermentation residue (10) is fed, preferably together with a defined amount of wood, to an incinerating and/or gasifying device (11), in which the contaminated dried fermentation residue (10) is incinerated and/or gasified. The contaminated ash (15) occurring in the incinerating and/or gasifying device (11) is drawn off and separated and is passed on in particular to a permanent disposal site (16). |
