PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which characteristics of a vibration wave motor do not get stable since pressure cannot be equally applied to a vibrator if a pressure applying member and applied pressure transmission member of the vibration wave motor shift in contact position.SOLUTION: A vibration wave motor comprises: a vibrator having a diaphragm and a piezoelectric element; a friction member which comes into friction contact with the vibrator; a pressure applying member which generates applied pressure for bringing the vibrator into friction contact with the friction member; and an applied pressure transmission member arranged between the vibrator and pressure applying member so as to transmit applied pressure from the pressure applying member to the vibrator, the vibrator and friction member relatively moving in a relative moving direction through elliptic vibration generated at the vibrator. The applied pressure transmission member comprises: an engagement part which is provided nearby a contact part for the pressure applying member, and allows the pressure applying member to engage; a first restriction part which restricts the movement in the relative moving direction; and a second restriction part which restricts a movement in a direction orthogonal to a direction of pressure application by the pressure applying member and the relative movement direction, the applied pressure transmission member being retained rotatably for the pressure applying member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
