PURPOSE:To efficiently execute piercing with good accuracy by previously punching the point to be pierced of a work, then irradiating the punched point with a laser beam, thereby piercing the work. CONSTITUTION:After the prescribed point of the work W is punched by a punch, this punched point is moved to the position right under a laser beam processing head 27 where the punched point is irradiated with the laser beam LB. The punched point 43 has a circular conical slope 45 at this time and, therefore, the laser beam LB with which this point is irradiated arrives at the deep part side of the punched point 43 while reflecting successively at the slope 45. The laser beam concentrates at the deepest part 47 of the punched point 43 and the deep parts are successively welded by the higher energy. The piercing is thus efficiently executed. |
