PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for patterning a ceramic in which a special pattern is expressed without applying glaze or coloring on a raw or dried clay forming. SOLUTION: Carbon powder or a mixture 3 of carbon powder and amorphous carbon powder is placed in a crucible 1. A raw or dried clay forming 2 is buried in the carbon powder 3 at a desired depth and an exposed part is closed with kaowool 4 followed by heating the crucible at 900-1300 deg.C. This method produces colored pattern at a boundary line A between the carbon powder and the kaowool.
