PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up machining by leading a sufficient amount of working fluid into machined grooves and thus cooling wire electrodes well. SOLUTION: This machine is so constructed that two nozzles 17 are opposed to a workpiece 16, a wire electrode 11a is passed through the nozzles 17 so as to move vertically relative to the workpiece 16, and two nozzle covers 20 are opposed to the workpiece 16 with their flat portions 20a positioned about the nozzles 17 and directed at the workpiece 16. While working fluid 24 pressurized by a pump 18 is fed along the wire electrode 11a, an electric discharge is created between the wire electrode 11a and the workpiece 16 to machine a groove 22 in the workpiece 16.
