摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for machining a sleeve for optical communication capable of enhancing the straightness of an inner circumferential surface of the sleeve and obtaining consistent connection losses. SOLUTION: A cylindrical body forming a sleeve having a through hole in the center is rotated, and rough machining of an inner circumferential surface 3 is performed by achieving the reciprocation in the longitudinal direction while a grinding tool 4 having a columnar shape of the diameter smaller than the diameter of the through hole is rotated with the center of rotation at the position by the predetermined quantity H deviated from the center of rotation of an outer circumferential surface 2 of the cylindrical body forming a split sleeve. After the primary concentric machining of the inner circumferential surface 3 and the outer circumferential surface 2 of the cylindrical body, the secondary machining of enhancing the surface roughness of the inner circumferential surface 3 is performed on the inner circumferential surface 3 of the cylindrical body by a pin having a tapered tip.
