PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of improving paper feeding speed and improving scan speed or the print speed of a scanner or a printer. SOLUTION: A paper feeding device comprising a paper pickup roller assembly, a paper conveying roller assembly, a unidirectional drive assembly and a reverse drive assembly is provided. The unidirectional drive assembly and the reverse drive assembly are connected to a drive device such as a motor. The unidirectional drive assembly is engaged with the paper pickup roller assembly only in one direction, drives the paper pickup roller assembly forward as the drive device rotates forward and stops driving of the paper pickup roller assembly as the drive device rotates backward, whereas the reverse drive assembly is provided to drive and continuously rotate forward the paper conveying roller assembly to convey and move forward a paper sheet regardless of the drive device rotating forward or backward.
