PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering rack mounting structure capable of sufficiently ensuring a squeezing space for absorbing the collision energy in a head-on collision. SOLUTION: In the steering rack mounting structure, a steering rack 1 is arranged between a radiator 2, a transversely installed engine 3, and a transmission 4 which is arranged aside the engine 3 and protruded forward of a vehicle, the steering rack 1 has a turning unit 8 for turning front wheels, and right and left mounting parts 1A, 1B in the vehicle width direction of the steering rack 1 are mounted on a cross member 7 by bolts and nuts 6. A turning unit 8 is provided on the side opposing a front side of the engine 3 of the steering rack 1. A long hole 9 is formed in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle at a part opposing the mounting part 1A of the steering rack 1 out of the cross member 7. A bolt hole of the bolt is formed in the mounting part 1A, and the bolt is passed through the long hole 9 and the bolt hole. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
