PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a building unit which can secure a proper rigidity balance when used in combination with an ordinary unit, by enhancing the accuracy of a rigid joint between a short-side beam and a column, and a unit building using the building unit. SOLUTION: A floor girder 44, which is positioned in the short-side direction of an expansion unit 20, is rigidly joined as it is, to a lower end of the column 36 by welding. After that, the floor girder 44 is cut along a portion near a rigid joint 50, and rejoined by means of a joint plate 60. In this case, one end 60A of the joint plate 60 is welded to a part 54 of the floor girder, which is left on the side of the column 36, and the other end 60B thereof is bolt-joined by means of a slot 62 at the end of the cut floor girder 44. Thus, a flexible joint portion 68 is formed. Consequently, the accuracy of the welding can be set higher than in the case of a constitution in which the flexible joint portion is set first, and by extension, the proper rigidity balance of the whole of a unit house can be secured.
