METHOD FOR CUTTING SHEET MATERIAL

A method for cutting a sheet material is provided to drop sheet pieces near a cut position even if the sheet pieces are lifted by supplying compressed air to a space between a cutting die and a placing table to prevent negative pressure from forming in the space. A method for cutting a sheet material(P) includes the steps of: cutting the sheet material on a placing table(2) to punch the sheet material into sheet pieces by using cutting blades(11) fixed to a cutting die(13); and supplying compressed air directly to the sheet material in the space between the cutting die and the placing table during the cutting process. The compressed air is supplied to the space including an outside space surrounding the cutting blades. The compressed air is injected radially.
