PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably adjust the exposure intensity of a light emitting element arranged in the seam of light emitting element arrays, in a light emitting element head configured by connecting the plurality of light emitting arrays.

SOLUTION: A writing device 500 forming an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor drum 5 based on image information has: the plurality of light emitting element arrays 503a to 503c; an IC 510 producing a driving signal for driving the light emitting element; and an image data output part 519 driving the light emitting element. The light emitting element arrays 503a to 503c are disposed to positionally shift to each other and the IC 510 produces a seam part driving signal for driving the light emitting element arranged in the seam part in a main scanning direction of one light emitting element array 503a and the other light emitting element array 503b included in the light emitting element arrays 503a to 503c, based on the comparison result of the image information corresponding to the light emitting element arranged in the seam part in a main scanning direction and previously set predetermined comparison image information.
