PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing ink that can give a printed matter excellent in high glossiness and drying property and having high film strength.SOLUTION: A method for producing (A) a rosin-modified phenol resin comprises: a first reaction step of reacting (a) rosins with (b) a dibasic acid anhydride having an unsaturated double bond; a second reaction step of reacting the product resulting from the first reaction step with (c) a primary diamine to produce an amide-imide mixed product; and a third reaction step of reacting the amide-imide mixed product with (d) a resol type phenol resin and (e) a polyhydric alcohol.SELECTED DRAWING: None
