The method involves adjusting a distance of inbound and outbound legs (1, 1') of a race-track pattern during identical final laps e.g. circles, such that an aircraft (5) is at the proximity of an exit point (2) when duration is completed, where the race-track patter is formed by a holding pattern. Ends of each leg are respectively connected by arcs (3, 3') of same radius. A nominal size of the holding pattern is calculated for authorized nominal speed of the aircraft.
