PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active-matrix backplane formed by using a thin film optocoupler.SOLUTION: The device includes a backplane having a plurality of output terminals 230, arranged in an array shape on an output plane of the backplane. The device further includes an active-matrix array including thin film solid state optical switches 220 coupled between each of input terminals and output terminals of the back plane. The storage capacitance can be coupled to each of the output terminals. A pixelized light source is pixelized light for controlling the optical switches.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
