<p>The present invention provides a coating composition for thermoplastic substrates, which is UV-curable and which produces thermoformable coatings. the coating contains a difunctional acrylic monomer, a monofunctional acrylic monomer, and a polymerization initiating amount of a photoinitiator. The difunctional acrylic monomer is a high molecular weight diacrylate in which the acrylate groups are separated by relatively large, flexible organic groups. The concentrations of the difunctional acrylic monomer and the monofunctional acrylic monomer are controlled to achieve a cross-link density in the cured coating which results in a hard, abrasion resistant coating, yet one which is thermoformable.</p> |
