PURPOSE:To manufacture a raw material alloy for manufacturing a sintered permanent magnet having high coercive force and corrosion resistance, in a raw material allay essentially consisting of rare earth elements (denoted as R and including Y), iron and boron and used for manufacturing a sintered permanent magnet by powder metallurgy by finely dispersing and laying an R-rich phase on the whole of the crystalline grains, essentially consisting of an R-rich phase as well as an R2Fe14B main phase. CONSTITUTION:At the time of manufacturing a raw material alloy essentially consisting of rare earth elements (including Y), iron and boron and worked into a sintered magnet by a powder metallurgical method, an alloy constituted of the above main components is melted and cast, and this cast allay is hot- worked at >=500 deg.C, preferably about 900 deg.C and at <=10%, preferably >=40% working ratio. In this way, the raw material allay for manufacturing a permanent magnet increased in coercive force as well as good in the rectangular hysteresis of a BH loop can be obtd. |
