PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase transition medium having high contract and high sensitivity. SOLUTION: In a phase transition recording medium in which recording is carried out by thermally changing the crystalline state of a recording layer provided through a dielectric layer on a substrate to change an optical reflectance, a reflection layer is provided on the recording layer and the reflection layer consists of Al1-x Mx (wherein M is at least one element selected from Ta, Ti, Zr, V, Pt, Mo and Cr and x is a number of 0.01 to 0.15). The obtd. phase transition recording medium has higher sensitivity and in which the decrease in a carrier level is <=1.5 dB compared to the case that the reflection layer comprising only Al. |
