FUEL CELL AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell having high power generation performance by suppressing flooding and drop in proton conductivity.

SOLUTION: The fuel cell is equipped with a solid electrolyte membrane; catalyst electrode layers formed on both surfaces of the solid electrolyte membrane; a water repellent layer formed on the catalyst electrode layer; a gas diffusion layer formed on the water repellent layer; and a separator formed on the gas diffusion layer. The water repellent layer has a hydrophilic region on the inlet side of gas and a hydrophobic region on the outlet side of gas.
