<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonhemolytic new microorganism immediately starting its logarithmic growth with no lag phase at all, in spite of a fact that, in general, when bacteria are put on a new environment (medium), there are several hours of such a lag phase, called a growth preparatory period, prior to starting the growth. <P>SOLUTION: The new microorganism is Bacillus sp. OYK-01-600 (FERM BP-6394), Bacillus sp. OYK-03-600 (FERM BP-6395) or Bacillus sp. OYK-04-000 (FERM BP-6396). Its characteristic is that, during its logarithmic growth, there are several hours of a period in which other bacteria grow little, and for this period, the number of the OYK bacteria comes several ten-thousand-fold the other bacteria. While the OYK bacteria, in themselves, exhibit antibacterial activity on harmful bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), the OYK bacteria inhibits offensive-odor-generating bacteria and various harmful infectious bacteria owing to the growth speed difference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
