FEED TUBE ADAPTER FOR A BOTTLED WATER COOLER

An improved mounting adapter (10) is provided for use in a bottled water cooler (14) of the type having an upwardly open cooler reservoir (12) for receiving a supply of water from a bottle (28) mounted over the reservoir (12) in an inverted orientation to permit water downflow from the bottle (28) to the reservoir (12). The improved adapter (10) includes a compact and substantially unitized adapter body or shell (16) for removable snap-fit mounting onto the cooler reservoir (12) at the open upper end thereof. The adapter (10) additionally includes an upstanding feed tube or probe (20) for operatively engaging a valve bottle cap (24) mounted the neck of a water-containing bottle (28) supported in an inverted orientation over the cooler reservoir (12). In one form, the adapter (10) may carry a seal ring gasket (48) for sealingly engaging an inner wall surface of the cooler reservoir (12), and an air filter (98) may be provided to filter ambient air drawn into the reservoir (12).
