PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the conveniences of the user by outputting an index print sheet on backup data, when backing up from a backup source storage medium, to a backup destination storage medium via a printer. SOLUTION: The printer 1 has a plurality of I/Fs 46-48 having each different access priority. Image data, in a memory card 60 fitted to the printer 1, are transmitted to an external storage 70 connected to the printer 1 for backing up, mounted in the external storage 71. After the backup is completed, access priority to the external storage 70 is increased temporarily, thus enabling data to be read from the external storage 71. Thumbnail image data in the backup data are acquired from the external storage 71, and the index print sheet is outputted, thus enabling easy verification as to what kind of image has been backed up.
