PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stapler in which a staple positioned at an end is accurately separated from connected staples connecting a plurality of paper staples. SOLUTION: The stapler comprises a handle, a frame and a base. The frame comprises a staple cover 6 for pressing the connected staple 2 on a conveyance path. A check spring 59 is provided in an end of the staple cover 6 on the side opposite to a fitting part to the frame. The check spring 59 is formed from an elastic thin plate-like metal, and comprises a first check spring 59a located in a central part and second check springs 59b located in right and left of the first check spring 59a. The first check spring 59a, in the condition wherein the staple cover 6 presses the connected staples 2, presses the staple 3a positioned below the forming plate for cutting and forming the staple and the second check springs 59b press the staple 3b positioned adjacent to the staple 3a.
