The heat shield for a gas turbine combustor has a wall (47) with a heated side (35), having a heated surface (55) in contact with the heated medium (M), and an opposing cold side (33). The shield has a first wall section (47A) and an second wall section (47B) extending along the longitudinal axis of the first. The heated side surface, at least in the area of the first wall section, has a curved surface in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
