A display device includes a first interface, a second interface and a display circuit. The display device transmits a first connection confirmation signal to confirm connection, via the first interface to a playback device and receives a response signal in reply to the first connection confirmation signal, transmits a second connection confirmation signal to confirm connection, via the second interface to the playback device and receives a response signal in reply to the second connection confirmation signal, and makes a function to use the first and second interfaces between the display device and the playback device available if both response signals in reply to the first and second connection confirmation signals are received.

1. A display device adapted to connect with a playback device via a first interface and a second interface and to receive video information from the playback device via the first interface or the second interface to display the received video information, comprising:
a control section configured to instruct a first communication section and a second communication section to repeat a connection confirmation two or more times within a predetermined time interval; said first communication section configured to transmit a first connection confirmation signal for confirming a connection with the playback device and receive a response signal in response to the first connection confirmation signal via the first interface; said second communication section configured to transmit a second connection confirmation signal for confirming a connection with the playback device and receive a response signal in response to the second connection confirmation signal via the second interface; and a display section configured to display the video information; wherein, the connection confirmation includes the first communication section receiving the response signal in response to the first connection confirmation signal and the second communication section receiving the response signal in response to the second connection confirmation signal, and wherein when the first and second communication sections repeat the connection confirmation two or more times within the predetermined time interval, the control section controls the display section to display a screen relating to a function which uses one or both of the first interface and the second interface between the display device and the playback device.
