PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver and receiving method which allows for recognition that a program, currently received by a receiver or will be received in the future, is a 3D program, thus enhancing convenience of a user.SOLUTION: In digital broadcasting for broadcasting a 3D video program content and a 2D video program content mixedly, a transmitter generates digital signals by multiplexing, scrambling and modulating the video of an encoded program content, along with the identification information for identifying whether the program content is a 3D video program content or a 2D video program content, and transmits the digital signals thus generated as digital broadcasting signals. A receiver receives the digital broadcasting signals thus transmitted, and determines whether the program content thus received is a 3D video program content or a 2D video program content, from the identification information about the program content thus received. |
