PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deterioration detector and a method for detecting deterioration that can increase the accuracy of detecting deterioration in insulation resistance of a power source if the detector has a voltage converter raising voltages output from the power source.SOLUTION: The deterioration detector according to an embodiment of the present application includes: a capacitor; a voltage detecting unit; and a deterioration detecting unit. The capacitor is connected to an insulated power source and conducts charge and discharge, and the voltage detecting unit detects voltages of the capacitor. The deterioration detecting unit detects deterioration in insulation resistance of a power source based on the capacitor voltage detected by the voltage detecting unit, and the voltage detecting unit can detect a negative voltage charged to the capacitor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
